There are eight major lakes and another dozen or so smaller lakes scattered through the Seeley-Swan Valley that are accessible by a vehicle carrying a canoe or kayak. Many of the lakes are bordered by private homes along at least part of the shoreline, but others are pristine with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
Waterfowl is most abundant during the late spring and early summer. Common loons use a number of the lakes as nesting and breeding grounds, and are very sensitive and easily disturbed by human presence. Please stay outside signed nesting areas and enjoy these birds from a distance. If you hear this cry of the Common Loon , move away. YOU ARE TOO CLOSE! For more information, please visit the Montana Loon Society.
