Directions: From Clearwater Junction, travel north on Hwy 83 for 15 miles. Turn east on Cottonwood Lakes Road 477 (small green street sign says Morrell Creek). Go 1.1 miles to the trailhead.
Type of ride: Old roadbed and trail
Distance of ride: Varies
Description: This is a cross-country ski area with predominantly intermediate and advanced ski terrain. The trails wind through rolling hills with the occasional short, steep section. Tread varies from gravel trail to old roadbed and grassy meadow.
The course receives light enough use during the summer months that some of the trails can be hard to follow. After the junction of Two Creeks and Roller Coaster, the right turn to continue north on Roller Coaster seems particularly elusive. A note about this particular route: if you miss the turnoff and keep heading west you will end up under power poles that follow a utility easement and may look somewhat like the trail. TURN BACK. There is a steep downhill about one-half mile along that easement to the north that terminates in a steep drop off. A rider could easily be catapulted over the fence and seriously injured in the resulting fall.
